STEWARDSHIP AND FINANCE 2pc-finance-stewardship@secondpresabq.org
Francis Chang is the 2023 Committee Chair of Stewardship and Finance.
The Stewardship and Finance Committee is responsible for educating the Congregation on how we use our God-given gifts; it is how we use our talents, our time, our various resources, and our treasurers. This Committee not only helps to guide the decisions we make about the use of money but provides a context for money within the church. It evaluates the financial health of the church, which ultimately decides its success in growth and in programming. A financially healthy congregation is aware that all types of giving are in response to God’s goodness and generosity. Money is discussed in the context of worship, and understanding that the offertory is an integral part of corporate worship. The Committee helps the congregation understand that money says a great deal about our values and priorities. It helps the church engage in mission in the larger and worldwide community and plans for long -range program objectives and financial needs.
The Committee leads the annual Pledge campaign in the fall and promotes the four National Church Offerings which Second supports: One Great Hour of Sharing; Pentecost Offering; Peace and Global Witness Offering; and Christmas Joy Offering. The Committee is responsible for overseeing the counting, care and disbursing of Second's money according to Session direction and reporting this information regularly to Session. The Committee also assists the Session in preparing the annual budget.
