HOSPITALITY 2pc-hospitality@secondpresabq.org
The 2023 Committee Co-Chairs of Hospitality are Susie Chang and Netty Velasco.
Why have a Hospitality Committee? The Hospitality Committee is one of those committees that does its job so well that you forget it is there. There is always hot coffee, cold punch, and goodies after worship that old and young happily partake in as they catch up on the week’s events. It is the Committee that rejoices, renews, and reaches out to all. It seems the Hospitality Committee seems to always be there when you need them. The Committee members take turns coming to church early to ensure food and drinks are set out for the congregation. They are also there during birthday, milestone, and various celebrations. And when those we love pass on, they ensure grieving loved ones are cared for with consideration and love by calling the congregation together with food and companionship. Their good cheer and warmth shown through their smiles, food, and welcoming hugs is a beautiful reminder of God’s spirit working in our midst.
The duties of the Hospitality Committee are to develop and implement a plan of social or fellowship activities in conjunction with other committees, support the church in the fulfillment of fellowship needs as they arise, and coordinate receptions and meals after funerals in support of grieving families. The Committee serves as the primary host for all special events and meetings. The Hospitality committee also helps keep the kitchen stocked with paper goods, utensils, and various sundries for Sunday Fellowship.
The Chairperson is responsible for coordinating special events involving the kitchen and food. The chairperson is also responsible for negotiating the yearly budget.
