2023 Committee Chair of Evangelism and Membership is Clara Padilla.
Evangelism is the foundation of the Christian church. Evangelists have been called to begin various ministries and congregations. Their work consists of exploring possibilities for a new mission or actually beginning that new mission. Within Second Presbyterian Church the Membership and Evangelism Committee serves the important function of helping to grow our congregation and continuing to help further Christian discipleship within existing members. They also assist in creating opportunities for fellowship within the Presbytery. The actions of the Committee help to build friendships and relationships so that we may grow closer as a church family. It is also serves as a means to help members better articulate their faith.
Throughout the year the Evangelism and Membership Committee is involved in various areas of the life of the church. One duty is to maintain the cry room, making sure the linens are clean and the toys are picked up. Also cards are sent out to the guests who fill out the green visitor cards. Further, the membership rolls are studied and outreach is preformed for members who have not been in attendance. The committee reaches out to determine if the church can assist in the spiritual and life needs of these individuals, or if they have moved to another church or city. Finally this committee is very involved in the confirmation classes, membership classes and baptisms. If you would like to get involved, please contact the Committee.
