Our Daily Devotions:
This will be the last week of our daily devotions. I planned to end at a liturgical moment as our communities were beginning to re-engage. Pentecost is on the horizon, with an always welcomed gift of Holy Spirit. I have enjoyed the discipline of preparing, recording and sharing these daily devotions with you. I hope that you have been blessed by praying individually, yet as a community of prayer.
Welcome to the Seventh Week of Easter!
Since I am also involved in the NM Pilgrimage for Unity Pentecost Pilgrimage-in-Place, I thought it appropriate to invite those pilgrims into our daily devotions. The format is altered slightly: there is more emphasis on prayers for various sources and traditions and the readings are drawn from the Roman Catholic lectionary for daily mass. For this week, the gospel readings are from the conclusion of the Gospel of John, one reading from the 16th, three from the 17th and a final reading from the 21st chapters of John. The key words for each day are:
Monday: Peace
Tuesday: Eternal Life
Wednesday: Joy
Thursday: Unity
Friday: Serving/Following Jesus
You will hear the words pilgrim and pilgrimage often and as you do, consider the ways in which your life is a journey toward God…thinking of the early days when you were just discovering God’s presence in your life; consider the circumstances and individuals who joined you and helped you grow in faith; look forward to the end of the journey when communion with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit will be complete. And be grateful for this season of praying together, even as you consider continuing this practice of Daily Prayer on your own.
George joins me in thanking you for your participation; we were a good team, taping and editing; posting and sharing. It meant a great deal to us to offer this ministry to you. We ask for your prayers and blessing as we plan and sometime (July? August?) move to Maine. You have our contact information in the church directory; but our true connection is spiritual and ever present. Blessings on your journey; Blessings on your life’s pilgrimage. Peace to you, Kay Huggins.
